Warren Road Pupil Achieves National Recognition in Engineering Awards

We are incredibly proud to share the success of one of our Warren Road Primary School pupils, Hayden Crowhurst, who has achieved national recognition in the Primary Engineer Leader Awards 2024.

Hayden, now in Year 6, entered the prestigious competition through school with encouragement from his Science teacher Mr Bishop with Hayden’s innovative idea, “Bait Spy” – a design aimed at improving the efficiency of fishing using technology. His creativity and problem solving skills captured the judges’ attention, and his entry was shortlisted from an incredible 75,000 submissions nationwide.

In July, Hayden was invited to attend the official awards ceremony at Kingston University, where his project was judged by leading figures from the engineering industry. Hayden’s design was rated “Highly Commended“ placing him amongst the top young innovators in the country.

The event was not only an exciting opportunity for Hayden but also a fantastic recognition of the talent and ingenuity nurtured at Warren Road. Speaking about the experience, Hayden and his family described the achievement as “mind-blowing” and a real highlight of his primary school journey.

We are thrilled to celebrate Hayden’s remarkable achievement and look forward to seeing how his passion for engineering and innovation continues to grow in the future.
